The climate is warm and temperate in Nairobi. In winter, there is much less rainfall in Nairobi than in summer. This climate is considered to be Cwb according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. The temperature here averages 19.0 °C. The average annual rainfall is 869 mm.


Kenya has two official languages: Swahili and English. Also there are over 20 different tribal languages spoken in the country. The largest tribal groups are the Kikuyu, Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin, Kamba, Kisii, Meru, Maasai, and Turkana.


The Kenyan Shilling (code: Kes) is the currency of Kenya. We recommend that visitors use Kenyan currency when traveling within Kenya. Currency can be exchanged at Kenyan chartered banks, trust companies, credit unions, or at offices of foreign exchange brokers.
